Molte fonti in Rete citano un libro, Did Man Land on the Moon? di James J. Cranny, affermando che si tratta della prima pubblicazione lunacomplottista. Ne parla per esempio la Simple English Wikipedia (ma non la Wikipedia in inglese standard), dicendo che "il primo libro sull'argomento... fu pubblicato in Texas dal matematico James J. Cranny nel 1970" . La fonte bibliografica spesso citata è Aus.bookmaps.org , che precisa che il Johnson City was the place of publication but nothing else.

James J. Cranny is quoted by sites like lunacomplottisti Moonhoax.us . His book is listed on Amazon , but without any details, except for a code and date fictional ASIN B000KGHGTW January 1, 0001; is not available for purchase. Amazon indicates Cranny as the author of two other books: Silver and Silver Standard Now! and The Rise of Hidden Government . Even this is not available and is not provided any details, except a statement that The Rise of Hidden Government was un'autopubblicazione ( self-published in 1973). Cranny also appears to be the editor of Did Man Land on the Moon?

the text of the book seems to be no trace. In questo video, a 2:50 circa, viene mostrata brevemente la copertina del libro di Cranny (nell'inquadratura presentata all'inizio di questo articolo). Si nota che si tratta di una produzione decisamente amatoriale, a partire dalla povertà della copertina; anche l'uso delle virgolette per racchiudere il titolo è molto eloquente.

È forse per questo che il libro non è reperibile. Quali fossero le argomentazioni di James J. Cranny resta quindi un mistero, almeno finché non verrà ritrovato il testo della sua opera.

Un lettore, Stefano, ha suggerito di indagare sull'eventuale esistenza in vita Cranny by the Intelius.com . Said and done: Intelius fee provided address and telephone number of a James J. Cranny that would still lives in Johnson City and have 88 years. I will try to contact him to see if he is the author of the book and possibly do with sending a copy for my archives.

The comments below also indicate a James Joseph Cranny, who is buried (or have booked a grave) at the Masonic cemetery of Johnson City, which is a country with about 1200 inhabitants . Cranny is a James Joseph died on 15 September 1992, according to data Texas Department of Health reported to the Blanco County where Johnson City is located. In addition There is a James Joseph Cranny on page 615 in the 1951 Yearbook the University of Texas at Austin. It is possible, but unconfirmed, that this is the same person.
